Unfortunately, this has given rise to an unexpected problem. Four times now, I've noticed in the shower that I've been on an unintentional phone call, usually to my Dad, who's first in my contacts list on my watch. This is caused by the cascading water in the shower activating the watch's touchscreen, but it's very odd that it reacts the same way each time.

I love my Garmin Venu 4. I think it's a great watch, and the ability to use the built-in microphone to set timers and issue other simple commands via the onboard voice assistant is great. Likewise, Garmin's touchscreens have improved in recent years to become almost as snappy and responsive as Apple's. But that combination means my family have been unintentionally earwigging on me singing in the shower.

You may have experienced the same thing with your Garmin, as most of the best Garmin watches now offer touchscreens in addition to the usual button controls. Whereas when you start an activity such as swimming, the watch automatically enters a Touch Lock mode, simply showering requires manual tinkering.

How to set up a Touch Lock short cut

Depending on which Garmin watch you own, there are several ways you can set up a shortcut to Touch Lock your Garmin watch.

I own a Garmin Venu 4, and while it does have two buttons, many other Garmin watches have five, which allow you to set up several 'hot key' shortcut options. The two-button Venu series doesn't have those.

Instead, by holding down the UP/MENU button, you can summon a selection of settings-based controls such as Find My Phone, Do Not Disturb, and Power Off.

Scrolling down, you'll see an Edit bar. Tap that, then Add, then scroll down the list until you come to the yellow Touch Lock button. Hit the green + sign next to it.

After that, you'll be able to hold the UP/MENU button to summon your list of shortcuts, and simply tap Touch Lock to activate it before you hop in the shower, safe in the knowledge no-one can hear you sing.

How to set up a hot key

If you've got a watch with five buttons, such as the Garmin Fenix 8 or the Garmin Forerunner 570, you can set up a shortcut via hot keys.

In your settings, select System > Hot Keys, and choose the combination of buttons you want to use in order to instantly turn the Touch Lock setting on and off.

Let's say you've unboxed the bot, attached any side sweepers or mop pads that need to be attached, downloaded the app and connected your robot vacuum up to it. What now? Here are seven things to do to get started with your new automated home helper...

1. Do a mapping run (but tidy up first)

Once you've connected your robot vacuum up to its companion app, you'll typically be prompted to do a 'mapping run'. During this, the robot won't do any cleaning, but it'll explore its new surroundings and create a map. It'll do this by popping into each room, wandering about a bit, and then leaving.

To get your home ready for this, you want to open all the doors and tidy away any clutter on the floors. In fact, I tend to try and lift up anything that's not going to be a permanent fixture – so I'll pop dining chairs onto the table, for instance.

It is possible to skip this step and just launch straight in, asking the robovac to clean and map as it goes, but opting to map first means the bot can be more efficient when it comes to vacuuming. Plus, it typically won't take long at all – less than 10 minutes.

2. Edit the map

Once the robot has finished its mapping run, it'll come back with a rough map of the space it has just scouted. How accurate this is will vary from robovac to robovac, but it's rare even the most advanced model will get it perfect first time around.

You'll probably need to go in and add a name to each room – this is just to help you make sense of the map. It's useful for determining where the robot has been and where it has encountered issues. Plus, it makes it simpler for you to launch single-room cleans. You might also need to split or merge rooms or areas.

It might be the case that the robot vacuum includes areas that it won't actually be able to clean. For instance, when I map my home, the robot will include parts of the garden, which it can 'see' through full-height patio doors. If I map a floor that's not the ground floor, it will also include the stairs going down. Again, it can see it's a space that exists, even though its cliff sensors will (thankfully) prevent it from reaching it.

For areas like this, I'll add a virtual wall or no-go zone. This means the bot won't waste time banging up against the glass door, trying to clean the decking outside.

Again, nothing terrible will happen if you don't complete this step – it just makes your life easier and can help the robot be more efficient in what it's trying to do.

3. Launch a whole-floor vacuum

At this point, I tend to just crack on with a whole-floor clean. I send the robot vacuum off to vacuum everywhere, using its default settings. Everything will be off the floor from the mapping run, so it should be able to achieve a nice, thorough clean.

During this run, I will be able to identify any problem areas where the robot might get stuck or lost, or any places where it can't currently reach. I can then make adjustments where possible to solve the problems.

I can also get an idea of the robot vacuum's navigation capabilities. More advanced robot vacuums will learn as they go, so even if the navigation is a little dodgy at this point, it'll get smarter the more you use it. Typically, I find most robot vacuums these days do a good job of finding their way about, though.

4. Explore the mopping

Most modern robot vacuums can mop as well as vacuuming, and early on I like to explore the bot's mopping capabilities. Setups vary considerably from robot to robot. On a basic option like the Dreame D9 Max Gen 2, you'll have to fill the water tank and attach the mop pad, carry the robot vacuum to the room you want mopping, close the door and ask it to mop. If the robot can't sense carpet, or if there are hard floor areas you don't want mopping, you'll want to set no-mop zones in your app.

More advanced options will be able to sense carpet and lift their mop pads up to avoid getting it damp. They'll also have a dock that refills the onboard water tank for them, so you won't need to do that bit manually. If I have a hi-tech model like this, I'll just include mopping as part of the first whole-floor clean.

Typically, you'll have the option to just vacuum and mop simultaneously, or vacuum then mop. I'll always go for the last option, so any dust and debris is clear before the water enters the picture.

5. Create a schedule

Once I've done my initial, exploratory cleans, I'll set up a schedule for cleaning going forward. The majority of robot vacuums have this option. The beauty of a robot vacuum is that it can operate autonomously, with very little input required from you. I'll ask it to clean two or three times a week, at times when I know I'm going to be out. As part of that, I might include one 'deep' clean, on higher intensity settings.

It is possible for a robot vacuum to clean at night. Almost all modern robot vacuums use LiDAR as their primary navigation technology, and this doesn't rely on the space being lit (many bots supplement this with headlamps to allow their object-detecting cameras to work in a dark room, too). If your bedrooms are near the areas being vacuumed, you might want to avoid this option, because the noise of cleaning may disturb your sleep.

6. Tweak settings

As you get acquainted with your robot vacuum, you'll notice things you might want to be a bit different. On a fancier robot vacuum, you'll likely be able to tweak almost anything, from how much water the bot uses for mopping to how often it'll auto-empty its dust cups, so dig into the app and have a look around.

If you find your robot vacuum is regularly running into things you don't want it to, look for a 'pet mode' in the settings – this will generally increase the sensitivity of the bot's object avoidance. If you're not sure what your options are, here are more settings you might want to change on your robot vacuum.

7. Map other floors

At time of writing, stair-climbing is out of a robot vacuum's capabilities. That doesn't have to mean your robovac is bound to a single floor, though. Pretty much all companion apps will enable you to map multiple levels – you'll just have to commit to carrying your bot to the new floor, and back again once it's finished cleaning.

Lack of access to the dock is the only other potential sticking point. It's rare that a robovac would need to recharge or empty its dust cup half-way through cleaning a floor, but it is possible it could run out of water if it's doing a lot of mopping.

To supplement my scheduled clean of the floor with the dock, I'll often map other floors in my home. I'll then just carry the robot up to do a clean every now and then – it's still less effort than going around with a stick vacuum.

Often with cordless vacuums, the battery will be the first thing to expire (cordless vacuums tend to last less long than corded ones in any case). Although all of Dyson's current models have batteries that can be removed and swapped over, and spare batteries purchased, it's still worth treating your vacuum's battery with care to prevent you from having to replace it before its time.

Below are five things that can damage or speed up the aging process on your vacuum's battery, and which you should avoid if you want it to last as long as possible. These tips are pulled from the Battery Care page on Dyson's own site, and while they're specific to Dyson vacuums, most of these tips will be relevant whichever brand's cordless vacuum you're using.

1. Using Boost too much

All of Dyson's cordless vacuums have a Boost / Max mode that offers more suction power than the other modes. This will drain the battery life quickly, but what you might not realize is that using it too frequently will also speed up how fast the battery degrades. Dyson says that its vacuums are "designed to be used in Auto or Normal mode for everyday cleaning" and that "Max or Boost modes are meant for powerful, intensive bursts of spot cleaning."

The newest Dyson vacuums have three suction modes: Eco, Auto, and Boost. In Auto mode, the suction will ramp up or down depending on the kind of floor it's on, and how dirty that floor is. This is a great way of ensuring a thorough clean without taxing the battery too much, or running it down unnecessarily quickly.

2. Plugging it in straight away

Most people will pop their vacuum back on its charge dock, or plug it into the mains, as soon as they're done using it it, so it can start juicing up ready for the next cleaning session. Dyson says that you can preserve the life of the battery by pausing to let it cool down first before plugging it in to charge.

I asked Amit Gupta, Head of Electrical Power Systems at Dyson, why this is the case. "Allowing battery cells to cool after high-power discharge promotes lithium-ion redistribution and electrode relaxation, reducing stress from high currents and temperatures," he explains. "This process increases usable capacity for the next discharge."

He also explains that charging the battery at cooler temperatures minimizes unwanted side effects and internal pressure, which helps keep the battery healthy. Dyson vacuums have a built-in intelligent Battery Management System (BMS), designed to protect and optimize battery performance.

"When you dock your machine after use, the BMS continuously monitors the battery’s temperature and will only initiate charging once it has cooled to the recommended level," he adds. "This prevents thermal stress, safeguards internal components, and ensures long-term battery health."

3. Not draining it completely

If you're the kind of person who can't let an appliance drop below 50% battery life without breaking out in a cold sweat, I have bad news for you. Dyson recommends letting your vacuum's battery drain to completely empty at least once a month, to help prolong its life.

If you've picked up a backup battery, the brand suggests switching between the two batteries every once in a while. That gives each one a chance to discharge naturally.

Want the technical explanation? "Occasional running a lithium-ion battery flat (also known as 'deep discharging') can recalibrate remaining capacity, depending on usage history," says Gupta. "A deep discharge and rest enables a small, short-lived 'capacity rebound' as lithium ions redistribute, recovering some reversible capacity loss."

However, he advises that while this can slightly extend runtimes, as well as making your estimated runtimes (as displayed on your vacuum screen) more accurate, it's not a fix-all cure, and won't restore permanently lost battery capacity.

4. Letting it get too warm

As I touched on in point #2, your vacuum's battery does not like to be too warm. So if you're storing it in a boiler cupboard or next to a radiator, or even in a place that regularly gets direct sunlight, Dyson recommends moving it to a new spot, pronto. Oh, and if you have the Dyson Car+Boat, it's not a good idea to leave it in your car either.

"Hot environments speed up battery aging," says Dyson. "Heat sources, such as radiators, can damage the battery." The ideal storage temperature is between 64.4F / 18C and 82.4F / 28C.

5. ... or too cold

Turns out your vacuum is a bit of a Goldilocks when it comes to temperature, because just as it doesn't like things too hot, it's not fond of the cold either. ("Batteries contain complex chemical structures that react to their environment," explains Dyson.) The brand warns against storing your vacuum in your garage or a cold porchway in the winter months. In fact, to protect the motor and the battery, your vacuum won't charge or operate if the temperature is below 37F / 3C.

ChatGPT has a habit of asking clarifying questions before finally delivering a genuinely insightful response. That’s great, until you keep chatting and that key reply disappears up the thread. Scrolling quickly becomes unmanageable, and the search tool isn’t reliable enough to save you.

Luckily, there’s a simple workaround. With a short text prompt, you can effectively “pin” any ChatGPT response, give it a label and timestamp, and come back to it later — or even download it as a PDF.

How to pin individual ChatGPT responses

Here’s what I do.

Once ChatGPT has given you a response you think you’ll want to revisit, just type something like:

“Put a pin in that last response, give it the name ‘xxx' and add a time and date stamp.”

(Obviously, you can use whatever code word or label makes sense to you instead of “xxx”)

ChatGPT might take a moment to process this, but it will do it. After that, you can ask at any time:

“Show me the pinned responses in this conversation.”

ChatGPT will then bring up a list of everything you’ve pinned. From there, you can revisit a specific response or even ask ChatGPT to download it as a PDF, which is handy if you want to store it somewhere safe for later. Sometimes I've found that it will give you a PDF download option automatically, but if it doesn't then just type in:

"Download that pinned note as a PDF"

You’ve now got a neat little library of your best ChatGPT responses at your fingertips. It still seems strange to me that there’s no built-in way to pin individual replies, but until there is, this workaround has served me well, and hopefully it will work for you too.

It’s a small trick, but if you rely on ChatGPT for work, it can save you a lot of time and frustration.

Air fryers use powerful fans to circulate hot air around your food, cooking it quickly and evenly. That also means crumbs and grease tend to spread inside the machine. Thankfully, many of your air fryer's components are removable for easy cleaning, including the basket and any trays, and the basket has a non-stick coating that helps prevent food and oil from adhering to the surface.

Before you get started, check your air fryer's manual to see whether the manufacturer recommends using or avoiding certain cleaning products. The methods listed below will be fine for almost all models, but it only takes a moment to check. If you don't have the paper manual, you can search the manufacturer's website to find a PDF version.

Clean the exterior

Before you do any cleaning at all, you need to make sure your air fryer has completely cooled down. Cleaning it while it’s still warm will not only risk you burning yourself on any hot elements, but it can also damage the machine.

Unplug your fryer and soak a cloth in warm, soapy water. Ensure you squeeze excess water from your cloth before wiping the exterior of your machine. Don’t be tempted to use any harsh cleaning sprays or disinfectants, as these could cause the outer shell of the appliance to peel off, or the chemicals could end up inside the machine.

If you’re using an air fryer that has a glass window, it might seem intuitive to use a glass cleaner spray to rid the window of any smear marks. However, when you next use your machine, and it heats up, the residue from the cleaning solution will also heat up and may release fumes you'd rather avoid. Instead, finish cleaning the exterior by using a dry cloth to buff away any smears.

Clean the inside

Many air fryers have removable parts that are dishwasher safe. This makes life a lot easier if you’ve just made dinner and need to clean up quickly. If there are large pieces of food stuck to your air fryer basket, however, it’s best to remove them first to avoid clogging your dishwasher's filter.

Because air fryers are designed to work without much oil, the cooking baskets are normally covered with a non-stick coating. In order to maintain your machine properly, it’s important not to damage this coating, and the best way to do that is by only cleaning it gently.

If you need to remove dried-on food, then you can soak the basket in warm water and dish soap, and then gently ease the food away with a wooden spatula. Steer away from metal utensils as they will damage the coating.

For the remaining parts, repeat the process using warm, soapy water and a cloth, and give them a thorough wipe without leaving excess water. If you notice any food stuck in the fan or elements, a clean, unused toothbrush is an ideal cleaning tool.

Never immerse your fryer in water, or try to clean it by heating liquids in the basket.

What to do if your air fryer smells 

If your air fryer is smelling strange, there are a few potential causes. First of all, if it's fairly new and it’s giving off a plastic-like smell, it’s likely that you just need to run it for a few minutes without any food inside to burn off any manufacturing residue.

If you’re getting a smoky smell or you can smell burnt food when what you’re making is showing no signs of burning, there may be crumbs or bits of food left in the machine or stuck in the fan. Follow our advice above for removing debris with a toothbrush.

Finally, the smell might be from a meal that you previously cooked, and despite your best cleaning efforts, the odor just won’t budge. In this case, wipe the inside with a sliced lemon, then rinse off the juice per our instructions.

One more thing...

Using silicone or paper liners in your air fryer can help keep it clean, but make sure they don't block airflow or touch the heating element. Paper liners can blow around inside the basket and will need to be weighed down with enough food.

Always make sure your air fryer is fully dry before storing it (especially interior components like the heating element) and keep it in a dry, well-ventilated place to avoid corrosion and bad smells. Closing the lid while the inside is still damp will result in bad odors, and if your machine has a plastic seal, this could become a home for bacteria.

Every part of your coffee maker that comes into contact with water, milk, or coffee is a potential breeding ground for bacteria, and needs thorough cleaning to stay fresh and hygienic. Over time, limescale can also build up inside the boiler and brewing group, causing problems with the machine's pressure, so descaling is essential as well.

How you clean each coffee maker depends on which type you have, but we’ve included some tips for how to clean every element of any machine so that you can pick and choose what’s relevant for you. Thorough cleaning is particularly important if you have an automatic coffee maker, which have lots of enclosed spaces that get warm and damp, and can even get moldy without proper maintenance.

You should clean your coffee maker each time you use it, and give it a deep clean at the end of the day, so it doesn't sit around dirty overnight. You should also descale it every month or 100 cups of coffee (whichever comes first).

Before you begin though, take a look at the manual for your coffee maker to see whether the manufacturer has any specific advice for your particular model. They may recommend certain cleaning products, for example, or advise avoiding others. If you don't have the paper manual, search for your coffee maker model on the manufacturer's website, and you should be able to find it as a PDF.

Daily maintenance

If you have a manual or semi-automatic coffee maker (one that uses a portafilter handle), make sure you rinse the brewing group with hot water after making an espresso. The machine may have a special button for this, or you might need to press the 'brew' button for a few seconds without the portafilter in place. This will wash coffee oils and grounds from the group and screen. Wipe out the portafilter basket with a damp cloth, and hand-wash the handle and basket at the end of the day. You might be surprised by just how much residue builds up.

At the end of the day, you should also empty and hand-wash the drip tray. Either dry it with a clean towel or allow it to air dry overnight before replacing it in the machine.

Every time you use your machine's steam wand, wipe the outside with a damp cloth while it's still warm to remove milk residue, then purge it by running it onto the cloth for a few seconds. This will keep the inside clear, and purging it onto a cloth will avoid making a puddle on your kitchen counter.

If you have an automatic coffee machine, it will recommend running a cleaning cycle each time you make a milky drink, which you should do without fail. It will probably also rinse its own brewing group (either immediately after making a drink, or after it's been idle for a few minutes). If not, open the machine's settings menu and look for an everyday cleaning program.

At the end of the day, remove and wash the drip tray and the container that holds waste coffee grounds. Also open the side of your coffee maker and remove the brewing unit, then rinse it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Leave everything out to air dry overnight. This will also give the inside of the machine a chance to cool and dry.

Clean the water tank

Using fresh water is the single biggest thing you can do to improve the taste of your espresso, but even the best water filter won't help if your coffee maker's tank isn't sparkling clean. The tank might look all right at first glance, but it’s important to stay on top of cleaning this thoroughly because it can harbor bacteria, and suffer limescale build-up in hard water areas.

No matter what type of coffee maker you have, you should always empty the water tank at the end of each day. I recommend leaving it out of the machine overnight to give it a chance to air dry. This will also allow water to evaporate from the soft rubber valve at the bottom of the tank, which can be difficult to dry with a towel.

When it's time to give your water reservoir a deep clean, remove it from the maker itself and empty it out making sure there’s nothing inside. Next, half fill the reservoir with white vinegar and the other half with water – leave it to soak for an hour or so. This solution helps to loosen any limescale from the walls of the tank. If you don’t fancy using this vinegar solution or the manufacturer warns against it) you can purchase descaler sachets, which are normally used in kettles, as these are also great at removing limescale with very little effort.

If you’re using an espresso machine or a drip machine, let the vinegar solution run through the pipes and out of the maker. This will treat the limescale and any grime left in the tubes. Once that’s all done, rinse the water reservoir in warm soapy water and swill to make sure there are no lingering odors. Let the water tank fully dry before you place it back into the machine.

Clean the steam wand (or milk system)

Wiping and purging your steam wand during the day is essential. but at the end of each day, I recommend removing it, soaking it in warm, soapy water for a few minutes, and then giving the outside a scrub and rinsing it through. Leave it out overnight to dry. Most coffee machines come with a pin-shaped tool designed for cleaning blockages in the steam wand tip, but with regular cleaning you should never have to use this.

If you have an automatic coffee maker, the manufacturer may recommend using certain products to clean the milk system (some machines I've tested require particular cleaning solutions). The manual will explain the necessary products. If nothing specific is recommended, the vinegar solution mentioned above should do the trick.

Clean the hopper and grinder

If your coffee machine has a built-in burr grinder, you should be able to access the inside by unscrewing the hopper (the container that holds the beans), then unscrewing the top portion of the grinder and lifting it out of the machine. Once that's done, you can use a small brush to remove debris that may be causing the grinder to stick. For hygiene reasons, don't use your vacuum cleaner's crevice tool.

You can also wipe the inside of the hopper with a damp cloth while it's removed from the machine. Let it dry thoroughly before replacing it.

Clean the exterior

Keep the outside of your coffee maker looking great by giving it a thorough wipe down with a damp cloth that has been soaked in soapy water. Even if it’s tempting to use a scouring pad to scrape off any dried-on coffee or milk, don’t use anything abrasive as this will damage the coating on the machine. To prevent water marks, dry your machine with a clean towel.

One more thing...

To make sure your coffee tastes as good as possible, avoid keeping lots of beans in the hopper. Although it might be convenient not to refill it frequently, light and oxygen cause coffee to degrade quickly. Only add the beans you need for the day, and keep the rest in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

Without a connection to the internet, your smartphone or their base station, even the best robot vacuums will have trouble working. They'll either fail to follow your pre-set cleaning schedule, ignore commands from your phone, or even go on strike while out on a cleaning mission.

Thankfully, if your robovac keeps losing connection there are a few simple ways to get it working again. Since there are so many models from a wide range of manufacturers, I can't provide specific instructions for every robot. But most work in a broadly similar way, so this article should provide all the connectivity help you're looking for.

#1. Check the basics

Before we dig too deeply into settings menus and learn all about the differences between two types of Wi-Fi frequency, let's cover the basics.

It sounds obvious, but have you checked that the robot's charging dock is plugged in and has power? You should also check any notifications or status lights on the dock and robot itself. Are they red, indicating an issue, or are they the usual color (often green or white)? My Eufy X10 uses a red light to indicate all manner of issues, from connectivity to a full bin or a leaky water supply.

Next, is your phone on the same Wi-Fi network as the robot? Have you recently changed your Wi-Fi network settings, bought a new router or installed networking equipment like a Wi-Fi extender or mesh network? All of these could be the cause of your robot's connectivity issues.

#2. Reboot and reset Wi-Fi

Robotic vacuums usually have a physical way of performing a quick reboot or, if required, a more thorough reset. There's often a way to quickly reset the robot's Wi-Fi connection too – this is typically done by pressing and holding two of the buttons on the robot itself for a few seconds. These are usually the two most prominent buttons on the top of the robot (or indeed, the only two), and they're often labeled something like Home, Start, Pause or Wi-Fi.

For several models from Eufy and Dreame, it's the Spot Clean and Recharge buttons that you'll need to press and hold. For Roborock models it's the Self-Clean and Charge Mode buttons, while Roombas reset their Wi-Fi with a press of the Home, Spot and Clean buttons together.

Hold the relevant buttons until you hear a beep or a voice prompt that tells you the Wi-Fi connection has been reset. Next, open the smartphone app and follow the prompts to reconnect the robot to your Wi-Fi network. Don't worry about losing any data, as once it's reconnected the robot's name, settings and cleaning map should all reappear as before.

Other robots, like my Eufy X10, have a pinhole button beneath their top cover. Lift the lid, then use a suitable tool to press and hold the button for a few seconds. This should force a reboot without the robot losing any data.

#3. Check your software is up to date

App developers like to push out frequent software updates, so it's worth checking that yours is fully up to date. Head to your phone's app store, run all updates, then go into the robovac's own app and check for new firmware updates there too.

Firmware updates tend to be less frequent, but often take longer to perform than a quick app refresh. Naturally, if you're having connectivity issues then updating the robot's firmware – or even checking if there's an update available – might not be possible. Try a reboot and/or a Wi-Fi reset first, then if that works you can look at checking the app and firmware are up to date.

Force-closing then reopening the app can also help, along with rebooting your phone and deleting then reinstalling the app. Basically, you want to give the robot every opportunity to establish a fresh connection without going down the nuclear, factory-reset route unless you absolutely have to.

#4. Move the dock to a new location

A steady connection relies on a clear line of communication between your Wi-Fi router and the robotic vacuum's charge station. If the connection is patchy, try relocating the dock so it gets a stronger, more consistent wireless signal.

Also be conscious of large metal objects or appliances, like your refrigerator, boiler and washing machine or dishwasher, as these can interfere with Wi-Fi connectivity. If you have a large home, try completing the initial setup (or troubleshooting reset) of the robot with it on the same floor as the router.

If this isn't convenient, try boosting your Wi-Fi coverage with a mesh network or signal booster.

#5. Check which Wi-Fi band you're using

Most robotic vacuums only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router is only operating at 5 GHz, the robovac simply won't work.

Ideally, you should configure your router to run a dual-band Wi-Fi network, where devices will connect with either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz depending on their compatibility. If you're seeing connectivity issues, try disabling the 5 GHz band, at least temporarily, and see if that fixes the problem. If the robot now connects, then try creating two separate networks, with different names to indicate their operating frequency, and connect the vacuum to the one running at 2.4 GHz.

#6. Perform a factory reset

If nothing else works, your last option before seeking outside help is a factory reset. This will remove your cleaning map and schedule, and return the robot to like-new condition. After a factory reset, you'll have to set the robot up again, add it to your Wi-Fi network, create a new map of your home and reconfigure preferences.

This process varies a little by brand. Some models can be factory-reset by holding the Start and Home buttons for up to 15 seconds, until there's a beep or voice confirmation. Confusingly, this is sometimes the same action as a Wi-Fi reset, but with a factory reset requiring the buttons to be held down for longer.

Ecovacs Deebot owners can perform a factory reset by opening the lid of their robot, locating the pinhole button (which is sometimes under a rubber plug) and pressing it for five seconds. For Roborock models, press and hold the Home button, then simultaneously use a tool to press the pinhole reset button.

Many Roomba robots can be factory reset from the app. But if connection issues prevent this approach, press and hold the Home button for five seconds, then you'll be told to do that again to perform a factory reset. For iRobot's Roomba J Series, press the Home, Spot Clean and Clean buttons for seven seconds, then press the Clean button twice to confirm.

I can't list every reset procedure here. So if you decide a clean-slate factory reset is the only option left, dig out the instructions that came with your robotic vacuum, or head to the manufacturer's website and look for guidance on exactly what button combination to use. Alternatively, if it's an intermittent problem and you manage to connect via the app, go to the settings menu and remove the robot from your system. This usually acts as a factory reset, with the robot now ready to be added afresh.

You know things have gotten bad when you’ve got so many tabs squeezed into the toolbar that the page icons have turned into tiny, unrecognizable pixelated blobs. Still, overusing tabs is a hard habit to break.

What’s even worse is trying to switch between tabs when you need to compare information across two different pages. That usually turns into a slow, frustrating process of hunting down the exact tab you need among the dozens you’ve got open, then remembering where it was when you want to switch back.

Sure, you can open tabs in a new window and toggle between them using a keyboard shortcut, but that’s a clunky workaround at best.

How to use Split View Tabs

You may not realize it, but there’s now a much neater way to solve this problem, thanks to a November update to Google Chrome. Chrome has quietly added Split View tabs, a feature that lets you look at two open tabs side by side in the same browser window, with each tab occupying half the screen.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because it works a lot like Split View on devices like the iPad, where two apps can share the screen at once.

To use Split View in Chrome, simply right-click on an open tab in your toolbar. In the menu that appears, you’ll see a new option called Split View with Current Tab.

If you don’t see this option, you’ll need to update Chrome. Head to the three-dots menu, then go to Settings > About Chrome to make sure you’re running the latest version.

Once you activate Split View with the current tab, both tabs are displayed on screen at the same time, and you can interact with either one as normal.

Managing Split Views

To manage your Split View layout, click the Arrange Split View icon that appears at the top left of the toolbar. This opens a small menu with several options:

Separate Views – returns everything to how it was before you enabled Split View.

Before I go into how to use virtual memory, it’s worth keeping your expectations in check. It won’t give you the kind of boost installing 32GB of DDR5 would do, for example, but it could help PCs that are struggling with multiple apps open at once, make overall performance of Windows 11 feel faster, and help improve the stability of your PC (especially if it often crashes due to lack of memory). People with 4GB or even 8GB of RAM will see the biggest benefit.

There's also the concern that adding all that extra moisture into the air, at a time of year when having the windows open regularly isn't feasible, will make your home damp, or exacerbate an existing damp problem. I don't have space for a tumble dryer, but if you do, there are the energy costs to worry about.

According to UK aircare appliance brand Meaco, there's a solution: the dream setup is a fan plus a dehumidifier. This apparently delivers efficient drying, for an impressively low running cost, and without adding extra moisture into the air.

Naturally, you might be skeptical about taking this advice at face value, given the brand specializes in dehumidifiers and fans, but Meaco has used a controlled test to come to this conclusion, and the tests can easily be repeated in your own home.

While the specifics might vary, the overall takeaways are pretty convincing. Let's take a closer look at the test, and the results…

The test

The test used 13 adult-sized T-shirts to represent an average load of washing, plus a calibrated thermohygrometer to measure temperature and humidity at the start and end of each test. Each load of T-shirts was run through the same wash-and-spin cycle using a Samsung washing machine.

The following situations were tested:

• Natural drying, with no additional appliances
• A second natural drying test, to show the effect of repeated back-to-back loads
• Drying using an energy-efficient 20L compressor dehumidifier
• Drying with the same dehumidifier, plus a pedestal fan

The testers hung each load out in the same utility room, at the same height and equally spaced out. For the latter tests, Meaco used the Arete One 20L dehumidifier and a Sefte Pedestal fan. The fan was placed 30cm from the airer, set to oscillate at around three-quarters power.

The results

Meaco found the fan-plus-dehumidifier setup reduced drying time from 20+ hours (in the natural drying tests) to just two. That's also less than half the time of the dehumidifier on its own.

Now, those numbers will vary depending on the situation. I use a dehumidifier when drying clothes and it takes longer than the 4 hours and 45 mins quoted by Meaco here – I assume because the relative humidity levels in my flat are much higher than those in Meaco's test space to start with. But they're still some pretty convincing stats.

The running costs will also vary depending on exactly which fan and dehumidifier you use – Meaco is naturally using its own energy-efficient appliances, and says its fan costs about the same as a lightbulb to run.

Meaco explains that by using both appliances together, you shorten the runtimes for both. So the fan-plus-dehumidifier setup cost 14p, while using a dehumidifier on its own was 28p (due to the longer runtimes required).

Meaco puts the average cost of drying using a tumble dryer at £1.21 per load, and extrapolates that you could save over £370 annually by making the switch. You can pick up a very good dehumidifier for much less than that.

How does it work?

If wet clothes are surrounded by still air, they retain the moisture. Adding a fan inside mimics the job the wind does outside, to push moisture out of the fabric and into the air, speeding up drying. Setting it to oscillate provides a steady flow of air across all the clothes. The dehumidifier then removes the moisture from the air, so the humidity doesn't build up (you can get an idea of the effect the extra humidity can have by looking at the increased drying times for the second natural drying test).

ChatGPT's latest addition, Shopping Research, is actually a type of agent.

Using Agent is a very different way of using ChatGPT compared to its normal chatbot function. There’s no back-and-forth conversation going on with a witty AI. You simply give Agent a task, and it performs it in the background, only coming back to you once it has completed it.

One of the main uses for agents is as research tools for complex topics, but they can also be used for taking simple human-like actions. So, you could ask ChatGPT Agent to do something you would normally need to do yourself or ask an assistant to do, like look for flights to New York, and it would search the web for you, finding the best flight based on the criteria you supply, like dates, cost, and your preference for time. It would visit all the same websites that a human assistant would if given the same task, but it’s a lot quicker.

Using ChatGPT Agent for finding plane tickets is actually a pretty good use case for it, and something I’ve done a few times with good results. In theory, an agentic AI should be able to book the flights for you as well, although I’ve found that it's rare for any AI to be able to circumvent all the blocks that companies put in place to stop bots from booking things without some form of human intervention. Anyway, I’m not sure I would want ChatGPT to actually spend my money without at least checking in with me first.

Vibe coding

Something else Agent can do is to write code and create an app for you. You don’t need to know anything about coding yourself; you can simply ask ChatGPT Agent to create a specific app to perform a task you need done, and it will go away and write the code, create the app, and then tell you when it’s done.

This type of coding, called ‘Vibe coding’, is pretty popular these days because AI is very good at it.

Slideshows and spreadsheets

Another good use for ChatGPT Agent is for creating presentations or spreadsheets. ChatGPT Agent can make a great PowerPoint presentation by searching the web for information on the topic you’ve asked it to make the presentation on. Equally, you can ask it to create an Excel spreadsheet based on figures it can find online, and it will produce it for you, formatted exactly as you require.

The final thing to remember when using ChatGPT Agent is that you’ll need to get used to how long it takes. We’re pretty much used to everything happening instantaneously on computers, but Agent really needs some time to go away and complete the task you’ve allocated it, so it’s not worth using ChatGPT Agent for any simple questions you have – leave those to ChatGPT’s normal chatbot mode.

Here, we'll show you some tips for using ChatGPT to create images that look great, too. Most people simply type in what they want to see and don't think much more about it.

There are actually a lot of image-specific options in ChatGPT that aren't obvious until you've found them. So, let's get started and show you what they are.

1. Creating an image

Even free users can create images in ChatGPT, although you need to be a Plus user if you want to create more than a couple a day. To start creating images in ChatGPT, click the + menu button on the left of the prompt bar.

From here, select ‘Create image’. The text inside the prompt window changes to say, “Describe an image”, and from here you simply type in the sort of image you’d like to see. Before you tap the blue arrow or press Enter on your keyboard, notice that a new Styles option menu appears.

2. Using Styles

Using the Styles menu is a really easy way to select between various image styles, like Coloring Book, Cyberpunk or Anime. Selecting one of these adds a pre-written prompt into the prompt window that will make the resulting image appear in that particular style.

Don’t hit enter yet! You then type in the sort of image you want to see below the prompt in the same prompt window.

Here we’ve gone for “A boy running across a landscape of trees that are made from sweets”, and selected the Anime style, but use your imagination and come up with an image you’d love to see.

3. Change the style

You can change the style of an image you’ve already created by simply selecting a new style from the Styles menu, which puts the new prompt in the prompt window, and clicking the blue arrow. Because it keeps the context, ChatGPT will know that this new style request refers to the previous image it created.

So, here we’ve simply selected Coloring Book from the Styles menu and hit the blue arrow to make a coloring book version of the previous image. You could now print this out, and it would be great for your kids to play with and colour in. You can do the same thing with all the other styles that the Styles menu has to offer.

4. Make an edit

But what happens if you want to make a small change to an image you’ve already created? ChatGPT actually comes with an image editor. Just click (or tap on mobile) on the image to enter a full-screen editing mode.

You’ll now see a few new icons at the top right of the screen. Click on the icon with a dotted circle and a brush. This enables you to select the parts of the image you want to change by drawing over the offending parts of the image with this brush. Now type what you want to change into the prompt bar. There are buttons to undo and redo any changes you’ve made.

5. Using the mobile app

On mobile, image creation works in pretty much the same way. You select ‘Create images’ from the + menu, then type in what sort of image you’d like to create, just as you do on a desktop.

The only difference is that you don’t get the same Styles drop-down menu, so you’ll have to be more descriptive and type in text describing the style of image you want. However, you do get a handy slider in the Selection screen that enables you to change the size of the area you are editing when it comes to editing the image.

6. Working with text

One of the strengths of image generation in ChatGPT is that it can handle text very well. It’s still not perfect, but you can generally expect it to produce text that looks correct on, say, a party invitation.

You can specify what text the invite should contain in your prompt and the theme of the party, and ChatGPT will generally do a good job at creating the invitation. Just be aware that ChatGPT remembers context from images created previously in the chat, so start a new chat if you want to start with a, creatively, blank slate.

7. Editing existing images

One of the most powerful features of editing images in ChatGPT is what it can do to photos you’ve already taken. You can upload them to ChatGPT and request changes. So, you can upload a photo and then type something like “make the background a waterfall” into the prompt window, or you could write something more creative like “make me look anime style” or “make me float in space”.

The possibilities really are endless. Just hit the + menu and choose “Upload photos & files” to upload your existing photo, then type your prompt.

8. Download your images

The last step is to get your image out of ChatGPT, once you are happy with it. Hover your cursor over the image on the desktop (or simply tap on it on mobile) and you’ll see options appear. On mobile, you get Save, which puts the image into your Photos app, but on both systems, you also get Share.

Click or tap this, and on the desktop, you get a new window with sharing options. You’ll see links to posting it on Reddit, X, and LinkedIn are included, but there are also Download and Copy buttons. On mobile, you’ll get all your familiar sharing options that are built into the operating system, whether that’s Android or iOS.

Use built-in analytical tools to see what has and hasn't worked in the past, using that data to help shape where you focus your resources.

Finally, don't forget to take regular breaks, stay hydrated, and connect with others during this often chaotic and stressful period.

Live Activities make that even easier. This feature allows apps running on your iPhone to display pertinent data on your Watch face. But there’s a problem: Live Activities take over your entire Watch screen. If you want to use a different app or just want to tell the time, you’ve got to dismiss the Live Activities first. They get in the way and slow you down.

I find this particularly annoying when I’m on a morning run or walk. I like to listen to podcasts when I’m out of the house, and launching an episode from an app like Overcast brings up a Live Activity on my iPhone.

Unfortunately, it also brings up a Live Activity on my Watch. That’s a problem because rather than seeing how far through an episode I am, I would much rather have an unobstructed view of my Watch face, but this gets obscured by the podcast Live Activity. As a result, my Watch is instead taken over by something I would much prefer to control on my iPhone.

Fortunately, there’s a way to prevent Live Activities from hijacking your Watch without disabling the feature on your iPhone. It’s quick and simple to do and means you get an unobstructed view of your Watch face, even when an app is running. Better yet, there’s plenty of extra customization available should you need it. Let’s take a look at how it’s done.

How to rein in Live Activities

To stop Live Activities opening apps on your Watch and instead just show your Apple Watch’s face, follow the steps below:

1. On your Apple Watch, open the Settings app
2. Now go to General > Auto-Launch > Live Activities Settings
3. Within this menu, disable the toggle next to Auto-Launch Live Activities

And that’s it. Now when an iPhone app brings up a Live Activity, it’ll only do so on your iPhone, not on your Apple Watch. And if you change your mind, all you need to do is re-enable the toggle you switched off in step 3 above.

The best bit is there’s still a quick and easy way to access Live Activities, even after you’ve disabled them: just swipe up from the bottom of your Watch’s screen. As long as there’s a Live Activity running on your iPhone, it’ll now be visible on your Watch. To dismiss it, just swipe down or press the Digital Crown. It’s all still accessible, it just won’t take over your display by default.

Further customization

Apple doesn’t just leave things there – it gives you more controls to tweak Apple Watch Live Activities to your liking.

For instance, scroll down the Settings page and you’ll see an option to show Live Activities if your wrist is down. This is enabled by default, but can be switched off.

Scroll down further and you’ll find sections for media apps, as well as entries for individual apps that you have installed on your Watch. Tap one of these sections and you can switch off Live Activities for selected apps while allowing them for all others, giving you plenty of granular control over how Live Activities are displayed on your wrist.

A small change that makes all the difference

With a few of these settings adjusted, I feel like Live Activities are much more under control on my Apple Watch. They’re reined in and only appear when I’d like them to, allowing me to enjoy my morning podcast while still getting a clear view of my Watch face whenever I need to.

“My ChatGPT was writing a recipe to memory, and after it was done, the entire ‘saved memory’ panel was blank, with no history at all. Everything is just gone,” said user WebCoder. Several others replied saying they had experienced the same issue. “Same. Business account, desktop, mobile, and web app all affected,” wrote LadyFace, while Little_Doveblade added: “Same here. Comforting to know I am not alone in this.”

There has been no acknowledgment of the issue on ChatGPT’s status page, so it does not appear to be widespread. That said, if it does become a problem, it may be wise to create a backup of your memories now so you have a copy should the worst happen.

Memories are made of this

Memories are the pieces of information ChatGPT stores about you in order to offer a more personalized experience. For example, if you are allergic to nuts, you could type “Remember that I am allergic to nuts,” and ChatGPT would take that into account when recommending recipes. Similarly, you could ask it to remember where you live so that it can provide more relevant local answers.

To use Memories, make sure the feature is enabled in Settings > Personalization. There are two switches to turn on: Reference chat history and Reference saved memories. Both must be active.

Pro and Plus subscribers can view and edit what ChatGPT remembers by going to Settings > Personalization > Manage Memory. This page displays all stored memories. You can reorder and prioritize the memories based on significance, while all users can remove a specific memory using the three-dots menu.

Backing up your memories

Creating a copy of what ChatGPT remembers about you is surprisingly simple. Open the Manage Memory panel, copy the contents, and paste them into a text document to save locally. If your memories ever disappear, you will at least have a record.

Unfortunately, you cannot paste text back into the memory interface to restore it automatically. To re-add each memory, you must type “Remember that…” followed by the relevant detail into the main ChatGPT prompt field.

If you find your memories have vanished, logging out and logging back in should be your first troubleshooting step. Some users report this has resolved similar issues in the past.

There is no official confirmation from OpenAI regarding a memory-wipe problem, but a quick manual backup provides peace of mind. It takes less than five minutes and could save you significant inconvenience. Your memories are almost certainly safe, although a little preventative action never hurts.

I've been playing Battlefield REDSEC since it was released alongside the Battlefield 6 Season One major update. It's a brilliant battle royale mode that's completely free to play. It's early days, but I'm betting REDSEC will land on our best crossplay games list by the end of 2025. After downloading Battlefield REDSEC, you may be wondering how crossplay and cross-platform progression works. You've come to the right place.

Here's how crossplay works in Battlefield REDSEC. This includes info on how to turn crossplay on and off, how the system works, and some key info on cross progression. Let's drop in.

Here's how to turn off Battlefield REDSEC crossplay between PC and console platforms

To turn off Battlefield REDSEC crossplay, just follow these steps in-game:

1. Head to Settings
2. Select 'System'
3. Scroll down to 'Setup'
4. Check 'Crossplay' off (leave it on if you wish to play with other platforms)

How does crossplay work in Battlefield REDSEC?

Turning on crossplay in Battlefield REDSEC opens up matchmaking between PS5, Xbox, and PC players. Turning it off means you'll only be matched with the platform you're playing on, so PS5 with PS5, and Xbox with Xbox. There is currently no option for PC players to turn off crossplay. According to DICE producer Alexia Christofi on X, crossplay works as console-first when turned on, but will still match you with other platforms if needed:

Battlefield REDSEC PC crossplay

PC features crossplay on Battlefield REDSEC, and it's on by default. There's currently no way to turn off crossplay on PC, meaning you'll be playing with console players. I'll be sure to update this section if this changes.

Battlefield REDSEC cross progression

All of your progression is shared across platforms for Battlefield REDSEC. This means that if you play on PS5 and PC, switching between the two will keep your progress as long as you're on the same EA ID. There's also shared XP and progression between the main Battlefield 6 modes and Battlefield REDSEC.

For some reason, ChatGPT defaults to generating its images with a slight yellow tint. You don’t notice it at first, but the more images you generate, the more you will start to notice that they often have a sepia or yellow hue. Not only is it distracting, but it takes away from the realism of the image and makes it look dated.

Various theories have been suggested about why ChatGPT does this. One theory is that it’s trying to make images look more like old paintings, or perhaps it was trained on many older paintings or warm-toned images?

In the end, it doesn't matter exactly why ChatGPT does this; all you need to know is how to get rid of that nasty Autumnal hue.

Mellow Yellow

As an example, I asked ChatGPT to create a variety of images - a child’s birthday invitation, a cat as a Roman Gladiator in the Colosseum, and a conceptual image for a presentation.

I’d say that, to various degrees, you can see its default yellow tone to the background in all of the images:

The question is, what can you do about it? Well, when you write your original image prompt, you could try including color-specific instructions such as "neutral white balance” or “no yellow cast, accurate skin tones”. This would help to stop the problem before it starts, but it means your prompts get longer and more complicated.

Another solution is to mention specific lighting conditions, such as “bright midday light,” or to use a negative prompt like “avoid yellowish or sepia tone” as part of your prompt.

What you can’t do with ChatGPT is the obvious thing – generate an image and then say something like “make this less yellow”. Because of how ChatGPT works, it will produce an image that is less yellow than before, but it will recreate the entire image in the process, so it won’t be exactly the image you started with. In fact, it will often look quite different.

Python script

If you want to simply get a color-corrected version of the same image inside ChatGPT, what you can do is cut and paste the following Python script (from Reddit user Linkpharm) into ChatGPT and ask it to run it on an image after you’ve created it.

ChatGPT will have no problem running the Python script, and it will leave the image exactly as before, just color-correct it within ChatGPT.

That's because the NBA recently began a new media partnership in the US with Disney (ESPN), Amazon and NBC/Peacock. This has changed where fan-favourite shows like Inside the NBA land and means a shake-up for how we watch games in Australia.

Your top options are Kayo Sports, Foxtel Now and Disney Plus, as they all carry Australia's ESPN feed. This provides the majority of big regular season games, the playoffs and the NBA Finals. Then there's Prime Video, a new addition which will exclusively stream some In-Season Tournament games, the play-in tournament and offer 66 regular season matches.

You'll hear about NBC having games in the US, but in Australia, these games will either be broadcast via ESPN or simply only available through NBA League Pass, which lets you watch every single game.

So, whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, we’ve got the ultimate guide on how to watch all the on-court NBA action live this season.

The NBA season ahead

The Oklahoma City Thunder, led by the reigning MVP, are looking to defend their first NBA championship. And, perhaps most importantly, Cooper Flagg begins his journey as the NBA's #1 pick for the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, Luka Dončić and the LA Lakers look to win a title in what could be LeBron James' last season.

There's also some excitement around New Media partners and the potential to change how the sport is spoken about. NBC's new panel includes Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter, while Prime Video's commentary will be headed by Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade.

The question is, what's the best way for you to watch? This guide will help you answer that question and get you ready for every buzzer-beater and fastbreak of the 2025-26 NBA season in Australia.

How to watch the NBA in Australia

ESPN is the primary NBA rights holder, marking its claim as the home of hoops with its 11-year extension with the NBA and WNBA. You can watch ESPN through quite a few different avenues in Australia, though. And it's not even the only option this year, thanks to the addition of a new media partner in Amazon.

Here's a quick breakdown of your top options, with more in-depth details below.

It has everything Star Wars and Marvel fans could want. It's also probably the best streaming service for kids, with Disney classics and Pixar films, and it has a regular influx of top-tier TV like Alien: Earth.

However, earlier this year Disney integrated ESPN into the Disney+ platform. This means that you'll be able to watch every NBA game streamed on ESPN live on Disney+, with no added fees to enjoy your favourite sport.

You get everything that ESPN comes with, too – basically matching the American sport offering that you'll find on Kayo Sports. That includes the MLB World Series that's just about to begin at the time of writing, NFL matches, the College Football Playoffs and media shows like First Take and The Pat McAfee Show.

ESPN will air 80 NBA games this season, including the Christmas Day matches. It will also broadcast 18 games in the first two rounds of the playoffs and one conference finals series. Plus, it remains the exclusive home of the NBA Finals. All of this will be viewable as part of your Disney Plus subscription.

Kayo Sports is a must-have subscription for sport fans in Australia. While the rights to some events are owned by other channels (like the NRL Grand Final on Nine or English Premier League soccer on Stan Sport), Kayo likely has a steady stream of live content for you, no matter what sport you're into.

However, when it comes to the NBA and American sports like the NFL and MLB, Kayo's offering is no better than what you'll find on Disney Plus, as they're streamed via two ESPN channels. This means you'll get the same access to the same 80 NBA games this season that you would through Disney Plus.

The difference is what surrounds your NBA viewing. Instead of Disney's library of movies and TV shows, Kayo's two ESPN channels are paired with eight live Fox sports channels, Racing.com, a Main Event UFC channel and a whole heap of sports-based entertainment like roundtable analysis and documentaries.

So, Kayo is likely the better option if you're seriously into other sports – like the PGA Tour, MotoGP and The Ashes – and don't mind flicking on random events like dart tournaments or extreme sports. That said, it's important to note that Kayo costs almost twice the monthly cost of a premium Disney Plus subscription at AU$40 p/m.

The new kid on the block, Prime Video is another option for watching live NBA matches this year. While it doesn't boast the same number of broadcast games as the NBA's main partner ESPN, Prime subscribers will be able to watch 66 regular-season games. These games include the Knockout Rounds of the NBA's in-season tournament, the Emirates NBA Cup.

Importantly, Prime is the exclusive home for all six matches of the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament. This is the mini-series played out between teams who finish 7th to 10th, competing for a position in the playoffs. Prime Video will also broadcast around one-third of playoff games during the first two rounds.

At face value, this looks like the least comprehensive option of the three, as it provides fewer games. However, considering that the majority of those 80 ESPN games will take place at 11 am on a weekday, it's unlikely that you'll be able to (or want to) watch all 80 games.

Where Prime really wins – especially for fans who aren't as serious about watching the regular season – is in price. Even if you're not already an Amazon Prime member, it costs only AU$9.99 per month to join. This makes Prime Video AU$6 p/m cheaper than a standard Disney Plus subscription. It also gives you access to exclusive deals on Amazon, as well as Prime Reading, Prime Music and Prime Gaming.

However, it is important to remember that ESPN (and ABC in the United States) has exclusive rights to the NBA Finals. They also have all the Christmas Day games – an entire day full of the best matchups. So, if you want to watch those big matches, you'll have to subscribe to Disney Plus or Kayo for a month or two at least.

In Canada, NBA 2025/26 coverage is shared between Sportsnet and TSN. Both will carry 41 Toronto Raptors games each.
